Hour PA is a Cambridgeshire Virtual Assistant service. We provide an efficient, flexible and cost-effective solution to some the most common problems faced by small businesses, stemming from lack of time and in-house expertise.

In a nutshell, we enable you to do more of the things you love.

How do we do this? You choose the tasks you’d like to outsource and we work remotely to complete them for you – leaving you free to get on with other things. It’s as simple as that. We’ll do as much or as little as you require, working to your timescales and adapting to your workload.

This could be administrative support, however we specialise in:

We’re a tiny team of two, but highly qualified and experienced with a diverse skill-set. As such, we’re able to provide our clients with a wide range of support services.

About us

Based near St Ives, Cambridgeshire, Hour PA was founded by me, Laura Bowman. We work remotely, to provide busy business with virtual assistant services that include administrative support, content creation, editing, project coordination and beyond. So many time-draining tasks can be confidently outsourced to us, allowing you to concentrate your time and energy on your real business passions.

Meet the team

Laura

After gaining a B.Ed. (Hons) with QTS, Laura began her career in teaching, before moving on (escaping!) into project management within a large national organisation and then a much smaller, but well-established company. The diversity of these roles equipped her with a wide skill set and many unique experiences. She specialises in project management, copywriting, content creation, proofreading and copy-editing. She loves enabling clients to focus on what truly excites them about their business and helping free up time to initiate new ideas and avenues. When she’s not working, she’s a bit of a history nerd (will happily discuss the Tudors at length!), adores the museums of Cambridge and has a near-constant hankering to be by the sea.

Jonathan

Jonathan

The director of our parent company J9 Solutions – established in 1997 – Jonathan is an IT specialist holding a First Class B.Sc. (Hons) Degree in Computer Science; is a full member of the British Computer Society and in 2005 also became a Business Link Development Network Consultant, passing a raft of rigorous tests. Jonathan provides IT consultancy, analysis, relational database development, design, photography and web support. Jonathan is also an accomplished designer, Photoshop genius and photographer, having worked on diverse projects from fine art image capture to society weddings. His interests include all things aviation, is rarely seen without a camera in hand and loves tennis.

Content creation and copywriting

Great content is vital. For example, regular web updates will boost your online presence (and as result SEO) and keeps both new and existing customers informed and engaged with what your business has to offer. However, it can be hugely time-consuming to create, taking up time that could be spent on billable work. We provide original, engaging content for web and printed material or revamp and refresh existing copy. We’ve worked with clients to produce product descriptions for e-commerce sites; website copy; blog entries; social media posts; the creation and broadcast of e-newsletters, via tools such as MailChimp; marketing materials and eBooks.

Proofreading and editing

This is one of our favourite tasks and absolutely vital for businesses seeking credibility and clarity of message, via flawless copy. Meaning can be impacted greatly by spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors that spell-check cannot identify. Our proofreading and copy-editing service will help you avoid costly printing errors and maintain a professional business image. Highly experienced and qualified, we’ll ensure your copy is polished to perfection.

Project management

We’ve helped clients launch projects that had previously been lurking on their ‘would-love-to-do’ lists, owing to insufficient time. Our team has a wealth of experience in managing projects of varying sizes and complexity. We’ll co-ordinate and deliver your new or long-term ongoing projects, keeping you fully informed and liaising with other stakeholders.

Design

Tying many of our services together is our ability to design and create resources for you. We use a range of professional software tools to produce bespoke materials, such as business cards; images for web and social media; marketing materials; e-newsletters; course materials and more.

Online research

For any subject as diverse as system research through to politics, finance and science. Do you need to know how the next wave of technology will impact your business? We’ll collect information and produce user-friendly reports.

Administrative services

Not feeling the love for your admin? Great news – admin responsibilities can be outsourced to us! We can look after tasks including: creating documents, database management, data entry, raising invoices, etc. We’ll quickly learn the way in which you like these completed or work with you to develop new, efficient workflow processes. We can schedule and coordinate your meetings, prepare correspondence, chase invoices, liaise with your customers and suppliers on your behalf – providing you with the relevant information and feedback.

Remote working

We are based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, but work remotely, saving you office space, resources and therefore money. This also means that our clients do not need to be local to us. We stay in touch with you via regular e-mail updates and video conferencing.

Flexible and cost effective

Our flexible, bespoke packages provide you with a cost effective way of gaining that all-important extra support, at the times you need it – perhaps you need us more during some months/weeks than others, we can cater for this! You’ll also avoid the commitment of recruiting additional members of staff and related expenses including pensions and NI.

Hourly rates

Our rates for ad-hoc work start at £30ph+VAT – these are based upon the type of support your business requires. For fixed term projects, we can offer a set price, giving you the reassurance that this will not change, no matter how long it takes us to do. Contact us for further information.

These plans are ideal for business owners needing regular support from us, providing a more cost effective solution than our hourly rates. They are formulated after discussing your needs and the monthly price reflects the level of support and type of services your business requires.
